Noise detection is a special feature in smartwatches that can measure noise in the environment. It uses the built-in microphone to measure the noise in the surroundings and shows the decibel value.
Exposure to prolonged levels of noise can cause short-term hearing loss. And hence, it’s best to avoid being in such environments. This is where the Noise detection feature can help you with knowing if the noise levels are safe enough. When in noise pollution areas, you can use soft ear plugs or move away to a quieter area to avoid the ill effects.
How Does Noise Detection Work on Noise ColorFit Pro 4 Max?
The ColorFit Pro 4 Max smartwatch has a built-in microphone for Bluetooth calling and Alexa voice assistant. The smartwatch uses the same to capture the environment noise. And it gauges the background noise in real-time to show the noise level in decibel value.
When you use the noise detection feature, it shows the minimum and maximum levels throughout the monitoring. It also states that “Noise above 80db could damage your hearing”. The noise levels are indicated in different colors (green, yellow, red) depending on the decibel value.
Steps to Use Noise Detection on Noise ColorFit Pro 4 Max
Now that we have seen how the noise detection feature works on the Noise ColorFit Pro 4 Max smartwatch, let’s check the steps to use noise detection on this smartwatch:
Step 1: Press the Side button of the watch.
Step 2: Select the Noise Health option.
Step 3: Scroll down and click on the Noise Detection option.
Step 4: Wait for a few seconds, and it will start showing the real-time noise decibel value here.
How Accurate is the Noise Detection Feature?
Now, we have used the noise detection feature on ColorFit Pro 4 Max, but the question is, how accurate is it? To check its accuracy, we have compared it with the Apple Watch Series 7 noise detection feature, considered the most accurate health tracking smartwatch.
Coming to the results, we started the noise detection on both the watches together. Both showed real-time noise levels as you can see in the image side by side. The data was similar on the two watches, which makes the ColorFit quite accurate.
However, it may not be that accurate in areas where noise levels fluctuate constantly- Apple Watch does a much better job of accurately showing the real-time fluctuations in noise levels for obvious reasons.
