Save and Extend Redmi Smart Band Pro Battery Life

The Redmi Smart Band Pro is quite interesting but lacks behind when it comes to battery life. Xiaomi claims a battery life of 14 days. However, in our usage, the band lasted only for about four to five days on medium to heavy use.

Anyways, there are certain features you can limit or disable on the Redmi Smart Band Pro to extend its battery life. Read on.

1. Disable Redmi Smart Band Pro’s AOD to Save Battery

The always-on display feature keeps your band’s display active at all times. This directly impacts the battery life because a part of display is constantly consuming power. You can turn off always-on display to extend battery life on Redmi Smart Band Pro, as shown below:

Step 1: Swipe right on the band’s screen, click on Settings icon, and go to Display.

Step 2: Click on the Always-on display option.

Step 3: Turn off the toggle.

You will notice a drastic improvement on your Redmi Smart Band Pro’s battery life. However, some people may not be comfortable with disabling AOD which is obvious considering it’s a feature you paid money for.

In that case, you can schedule AOD to start and end only when you require it. For instance, you can set it to turn off automatically by the sunset till the next morning.

2. Turn Off Auto Brightness, Reduce Brightness

The Redmi Smart Band Pro has an auto-brightness feature that adjusts the display brightness based on surroundings. However, this feature consumes battery and it’s best to manually set the brightness level.

Since the band’s screen is bright enough even low levels, you can keep it at level 1 or 2 which would further reduce battery consumption. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Open Settings on the band and go to Brightness.

Step 2: Turn off the Auto Adjust option.

Step 3: Furthermore, set the brightness level at 1 or 2.

3. Set Auto Screen Lock at Minimum Time

The auto-lock screen feature comes in most smartwatches and smart bands. This feature automatically locks or turns off the screen in a few seconds, and this time can be changed too.

Keeping the auto-lock time at a minimum can save the battery as the screen will not stay on unnecessarily. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Open Settings on the band and go to Display.

Step 2: Click on Auto-lock and set the time to 5 seconds.

Now, your Redmi Smart Band Pro’s screen will turn off automatically after 5 seconds of inactivity. This will reduce the band’s battery consumption.

4. Disable Continuous Heart Rate Monitoring

The Redmi Smart Band Pro features both Heart rate and SpO2 sensors. It also has the continuous heart rate monitoring feature that tracks the heart rate 24×7. However, it also consumes a lot of battery.

If you’re not a fitness enthusiast, you can turn off the continuous monitoring to extend battery life on Redmi Smart Band Pro.

Step 1: Open the Xiaomi Wear app and go to the Profile section.

Step 2: Select Heart Rate and click on Continuous monitoring.

Step 3: Click on Turn off, and it will no more monitor your heart rate continuously.

Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to track your heart rate and blood oxygen manually.

5. Turn Off Raise to Wake

Raise to wake is an essential feature that turns on the display when you lift your wrist to check the time. It is quite helpful as you don’t have to touch or press the screen manually to turn it on.

But this feature also consumes more battery by keeping the accelerometer sensor active at all times to detect the wrist movement. To turn it off:

Step 1: Open the Xiaomi Wear app and go to the Profile section.

Step 2: Scroll down and open the Raise to wake option.

Step 3: Click on Raise to wake and select Turn off.

Now, it will be permanently turned off. But you can still turn it on manually from the band if you want.

Turn Off/ On Raise to Wake from Band:

Step 1: Swipe right on the home screen of the band to open control centre.

Step 2: Tap the wrist icon to turn on or off the Raise to Wake feature.

6. Use Black-Themed Watch Faces

Redmi Smart Band Pro uses an AMOLED display that turns off pixels to show black colors. This means black elements do not use any power on the display. You can take its advantage to save battery life by switching to a black-themed watch face.

You can change and download cloud watch faces as follows:

Step 1: Open the Xiaomi Wear app and go to the Profile section.

Step 2: Select Band Displays and go to the Online watch face option.

Step 3: Look for watch faces with majority of black elements.

Step 4: Select the watch face you like and click the Apply button.

The watch face will be transferred and applied on your Redmi Smart Band Pro and will help save some extra battery.
